This state of the art oyster breeding research center cultivates local and foreign oysters, requiring the latter be isolated and pasteurized. This facility was capable of cleaning and filtering sea water, while also growing its own food stock. Water returned to the bay is returned cleaner and within 1o of incoming temperatures after sterilization due to energy recovery.
The most unique feature of the building is that this process is housed in a classic revival building designed to coordinate with the benefactor’s residence on the donated research campus.
